What personal information Jobalgia collects on jobalgia.com, why we collect it, and the choices you have.

The short version

  • You can browse Jobalgia without an account. If you create one, we hold what you choose to add, and we never sell your personal information.
  • Your CV and photo are never public. Approved employers can find your profile only if you turn on "Let employers find me" and we've reviewed it.
  • We don't use analytics or advertising cookies on jobalgia.com.
  • If you message us, we use your details only to reply.
  • Some jobs take applications on Jobalgia, and we send your profile, CV and note to that employer. Others send you to the employer's own site, under their privacy policy.
  • You can download your data or delete your account at any time in Account → Settings.

Who we are

Jobalgia ("we", "us") runs the website and job board at jobalgia.com. The business behind Jobalgia is [legal entity name], registered at [registered address].

What we collect

We collect as little as we can. What we hold depends on how you use Jobalgia.

  • Browsing jobalgia.com: our hosting provider processes technical information such as your IP address, browser type and the pages you request, so it can deliver and protect the site.
  • Contacting us: your name, email address, the topic you choose and your message.
  • Job alerts: your email address and the specialty and country you choose.
  • Job seeker accounts: your email address and password (our login provider, Supabase, handles passwords; we never see them), the profile you choose to fill in (name, headline, specialty, licences and compacts, the states and countries you can work in, the kind of work you want, when you could start, experience, a summary, phone number and LinkedIn address), an optional profile photo, and the CV you upload. Before we store a photo, we remove the hidden details phone photos carry, such as where it was taken.
  • Applications on Jobalgia: the jobs you apply to, your note to the employer, and a copy of your profile and CV as they were when you applied.
  • Employer accounts and job posts: your name, work email, phone, job title and organization details, your company logo if you add one, the jobs you post, and our review notes. Posting is free while we launch. If we introduce paid features, we'll update this policy first.
  • Records that protect you: which approved employers viewed your profile or downloaded your CV, and sign-in and security records.

For jobs that take applications on the employer's own site, clicking Apply takes you there, and we don't receive your application.

Please don't put health information, government ID numbers, licence numbers, your date of birth or your home address in your profile or CV. Employers don't need them to consider you.

How we use it

  • To run, secure and improve jobalgia.com.
  • To reply to your messages and requests.
  • To send the job alerts you asked for.
  • To run your account and send your applications to the employers you choose.
  • To review your profile and show it to approved employers, only if you turn on "Let employers find me".
  • To review job posts and check employers before their jobs go live or they can see candidates, and to keep a record of what we publish.
  • To keep spam, fraud and fake listings off Jobalgia.
  • To meet our legal obligations.

We don't use your information for advertising, and we don't sell it or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.

Cookies and similar technologies

jobalgia.com doesn't use analytics or advertising cookies, and you don't need an account to browse it. If you sign in, we use cookies that keep you signed in and protect your account; they're essential for the account to work. Our forms use Cloudflare Turnstile, provided through our website platform Webflow, to check that a person rather than a bot is sending them.

If we ever add analytics or advertising cookies, we'll update this policy first and ask for your consent where the law requires it.

Who we share it with

We use service providers to run Jobalgia. They process personal information on our behalf and only on our instructions:

  • Webflow hosts jobalgia.com, including the account area, and stores what you send us: messages, job alert sign-ups, profiles, CVs, applications and job posts. It runs on Cloudflare's network.
  • Supabase handles sign-in: your email address and password.
  • Cloudflare provides spam protection on our forms.
  • When we start sending job alerts, the email service we use will hold the email addresses of people who signed up, and we will name it here.

We also share your information with employers, but only like this:

  • Employers you apply to on Jobalgia receive your profile (with your photo, if you added one), your note and your CV for that job.
  • Approved employers can find you only if you turn on "Let employers find me". We check every employer before it can search, and we review each profile before it appears there. They first see a summary without your name, photo or contact details; opening your profile shows your name, photo, email, phone and CV, and we record each view. Employers agree to use profiles only to recruit for their own roles.

We also share information when the law requires it, to protect people from harm or fraud, or if our business is sold or restructured, in which case this policy continues to apply. We don't sell personal information.

International transfers

Our providers may process information outside the country you live in, including in the United States. Where the law requires it, we rely on safeguards such as the European Commission's standard contractual clauses and the UK's equivalent.

How long we keep it

  • Messages to us: as long as we need to deal with them and keep a reasonable record, then we delete them.
  • Job alerts: until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete your sign-up.
  • Your account: until you delete it in Account → Settings, which removes your profile, photo, CVs and applications. [rule for inactive accounts, e.g. deleted after 24 months without a sign-in, after a warning email]
  • Applications: deleted with your account. Employers who downloaded your CV are responsible for their own copies under their own privacy policies.
  • Profile view records: [how long, e.g. 24 months], then deleted.
  • Job posts: while the job is live, then only as long as we need a record of what we published.
  • Technical logs: kept by our providers for short periods for security.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you can ask us to:

  • give you a copy of your personal information;
  • correct it if it's wrong;
  • delete it;
  • restrict or object to how we use it;
  • send it to you or to another organization in a portable format;
  • stop sending you job alerts, which you can also do yourself from any alert email.

If you have an account, you can do much of this yourself: download your data, correct your profile, turn off "Let employers find me" or delete your account in Account → Settings.

If you live in California or another US state with a privacy law, you also have the right to know what we collect and to ask us to delete or correct it. We don't sell or share personal information, so there's nothing to opt out of, and we won't treat you differently for using your rights.

To make a request, use our contact form and choose Privacy request. We may need to confirm your identity first, and we'll reply within the time the law allows.

You can also complain to a regulator, such as the Information Commissioner's Office (UK), the Data Protection Commission (Ireland), the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada, the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner or the Office of the Privacy Commissioner (New Zealand). We'd appreciate the chance to put things right first.

Security

jobalgia.com is served over HTTPS, access to personal information is limited to the people who need it, and we choose providers with strong security practices. No system is perfectly secure, so please tell us straight away if you think something is wrong.

Children

Jobalgia is for people looking for work and for employers. Accounts are for people aged 18 and over, the site isn't meant for anyone under 16, and we don't knowingly collect information from children.

Changes to this policy

We'll update this page when our practices change and change the date at the top. If a change is significant, we'll also say so on the site or by email where we can.
